BLAM.
POW.
BOOM.

For decades, these were the sounds that pop culture associated with Batman. These were the words used to convey the action and excitement of the Caped Crusader.

But what do they really mean?

BLAM. The sound of a bullet leaving the barrel of a gun, exploding outward, firing at the skull of the target.

POW. The sound of a fist pounding against a human body, bruising flesh, breaking bone.

BOOM. The sound of an explosion, a bomb detonating, a fireball erupting, buildings and bodies torn asunder.

SWISHHH. A knife drawn across skin.
SHHHUNNT. A blade severing limb from limb.
THUD. A lifeless body falling to the floor

Will one of these sounds be the last thing Batman will ever hear?
